Alex Xu
Founder, Chairman and CEO, GreenTree Inns Hotel Group

Alex Xu is Founder, Chairman and CEO of GreenTree Inns Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing business hotel chains in China. Established six years ago, GreenTree Inns has grown to 600 hotels (340 in operation and 260 in planning) with 15,000 employees. The hotel chain is expected to reach 1,000 hotels by 2012.

He is also Chairman of American Pacific Homes (APH), a home builder in Southern California since 1997. APH also builds on average 2,000 apartments units each year in China. He owns a number of businesses in fashion, medical centers, among others.

Previously, Mr. Xu worked as Finance Manager and Corporate Data Service Manager for Broadway Stores Corporation (BWY 1990-1994), which merged with Macy’s, and as Director of Finance for Santa Anita Realty and Racetrack (SARE 1994-1995) now merged with Meditrust. He served as Chief Operating Officer for President Asset Group (1995-1997). He graduated from USC with Master Degrees in Mathematics and Computer Engineering and studied in the PhD program in Business Administration. His specialties include strategic planning and investment, reorganization, training and parenting. He works most of the time in China and resides in San Marino, California.
